Starting school is an exciting time and we look forward to welcoming all our new learners in August 2025.

Arrangements for this year's transition program will be shared prior to the Easter Holidays.

If your child turns 5 years old between 1 March 2026 and 28 February 2027, you should register them to start primary school in August 2026.

You should receive a P1 letter at the beginning of November. This letter explains how to register your child and how to make a placing request, if you would like your child to attend an out of catchment primary school, please visit www.midlothian.gov.uk/schoolplace.

If you have moved house since first registering your child at their Early Learning and Childcare/Childminder setting  please contact them to ensure address details are correct.  

Registration week opens online at 9:00am on 17 November 2025 at www.midlothian.gov.uk/schoolplace.
