The P7 Transition calendar has been put together with information relating to catchment schools our current P7 pupils are moving on to. You will also find details of other important dates relevant to Primary 7.
As Danderhall is part of the Dalkeith Associated Schools Group (ASG), our catchment High school is Dalkeith High. If you would like more information regarding P7-S1 transition please click on the following link to their website. Dalkeith High School P7-S1 transition
For 2026/27 Midlothian Council are implementing an annual transport application model across mainstream and ASN to ensure accurate data, improve allocation, uptake and efficiency and support a demand-led service. You must apply using the link below and have until Friday 29th May to complete the application.
Key policy points:
Mainstream pupils: Pupils attending their catchment school over 2 miles away generally qualify for free or supported transport. Those under 2 miles may also qualify if there’s no safe walking route or if public transport requires walking more than 2 miles. Pupils attending via a placing request are not eligible.
ASN pupils: If a child’s additional support needs mean mainstream transport is not suitable, we may provide alternative arrangements following an individual assessment with the school and relevant professionals.
What you need to know
Apply every year; assessment is made against the published policy and applying does not guarantee transport.
Eligibility depends on distance, availability of any walking route, and individual needs; placing requests are not transport eligible.
If approved, you may be offered a dedicated school bus place, public transport support, shared/individual vehicle, mileage reimbursement, or (where appropriate) a PTB
